'Little Breton'

NOVEL

Author: David Guénel

There was a man called Lucien Georges Mazan who between 1907 and 1908 won the newly created Milan-San Remo, won Paris-Brussels, won the Tour of Belgium and the Tour de France in 1907 and 1908. He was a photographer and writer. He was a soldier in the First World War and, as fate would have it, lived in Buenos Aires from the age of eight to twenty.

One day he changed his name to Lucien Petit-Breton and since then his legend has lived on every road in France, Belgium, Italy and Argentina. His spirit remains forever in the velodromes of Paris, Buenos Aires and New York. He was the first cyclist to win the Tour de France twice in a row.

This novelistic biography not only allows us to rescue from oblivion one of the greatest legends of cycling, but also invites us to participate in all the changes that took place in cycling between the 19th and 20th centuries, and lets us see how the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia were born and, above all, shows us how this love of fatigue began, and of getting on the bike and conquering all the mountain passes.
